Ever feel like justice is broken and everything’s falling apart? The prophet Habakkuk felt the same way 2,500 years ago.

In this week’s first reading (Habakkuk 1:1-4; 2:1-4), we hear one of the most raw, honest complaints in Scripture—and God’s surprising response. Rolf Jacobson explains how Habakkuk might just be the Bible’s clearest picture of what faith actually looks like (spoiler: it’s not what you think).

When God’s answer isn’t what we expected, when justice feels perverted, when we’re standing in the watchtower waiting … that’s when we learn what it means to live by faith.
