What pushes people to go public with the truth?

In Matthew 4, Jesus takes to the streets after John’s arrest—going public with a message of mercy and a new way of being in the world. It’s a dangerous move that eventually costs him everything.

But what about the disciples? What made Peter, Andrew, James, and John drop their nets and follow? What gets people to lay down their garments and declare, “This is the kind of power we choose”?

And what made YOU become a preacher?

Matt Skinner explores what it means to preach the truth—even when it’s costly—in this week’s Preacher to Preacher for Epiphany 3.
