Preaching Moment 339: Michael Brown On Preaching in Spirit

Michael Brown talks about preaching “in the Spirit mode” wherein the preacher throws oneself into the lesson and can actually take a journey wherein “the Spirit takes over with sighs that are not too deep for words, but certainly with movement that shapes and informs our words in ways that we sometimes did not anticipate … Almost inevitably when I start out working with a text writing a sermon, it’ll take me someplace I didn’t anticipate.”

“Preaching in the Spirit comes when you feel yourself taken over by something that is bigger than yourself,” said Brown.
