Comentario del San Mateo 15:21-28

De los Judíos a los Gentiles

La perícopa bajo análisis (vv. 21-28) se inicia con un cambio de itinerario y la retirada de Jesús y sus discípulos a territorio no judío. Jesús emprende dicho camino luego de la confrontación que tiene con fariseos y escribas acerca de asuntos de pureza e impureza (vv. 10-20). La discusión se inicia como parte de la crítica severa que hacen dichos líderes religiosos a los discípulos acusándolos de quebrantar la tradición de los ancianos de no lavarse las manos cuando comen pan (vv.1-2). En los tiempos del Nuevo Testamento esto se había convertido en una especie de ritual y obligación; no hacerlo implicaba impureza. Esta tradición se basaba en una interpretación rigurosa de Levítico 15:11. Este es el contexto en el que debemos entender la perícopa de hoy en relación al cambio de agenda de Jesús.
