Biography

The Rev. Dr. Carolyn B. Helsel is Associate Professor in the Blair Monie Distinguished Chair in Homiletics and Director of the Faithful Preaching Project at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Texas. She is the author of Preaching about Racism: A Guide for Faith Leaders, and Anxious to Talk about It: Helping White Christians Talk Faithfully about Racism. Both of Dr. Helsel’s books were named the “Book of the Year” for 2019 by the Academy of Parish Clergy, and she speaks across the country at churches, conferences, and university campuses in order to facilitate conversations about racism.
