The Rev. Dr. Carolyn B. Helsel is author of Preaching about Racism: A Guide for Faith Leaders, and Anxious to Talk about It: Helping White Christians Talk Faithfully about Racism. Both of Dr. Helsel’s books were named the “Book of the Year” for 2019 by the Academy of Parish Clergy, and she speaks across the country at churches, conferences, and university campuses in order to facilitate conversations about racism. In addition to speaking and leading retreats and workshops, Dr. Helsel teaches preaching at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Texas.
