Are you really the one who is coming?

Karoline Lewis reflects on the Third Sunday of Advent and the profound question John the Baptist asks Jesus—a question that echoes through our own Advent journey. Standing before John August Swanson’s beautiful Nativity at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, she shares a powerful anthem that captures how we recognize Christ’s coming: “not by any din of drums nor his manners nor his heirs nor by anything he wears… but his coming known shall be by the holy harmony which his coming makes in thee.”

This Advent, how are you recognizing Christ’s presence? Not by outward signs, but by the holy harmony he makes within you?
