Comentario del San Juan 15:26-27, 16:4b-15

En la noche en que Jesús va a ser entregado se reúne con sus discípulos para la cena de despedida y, como es típico del evangelio joánico, Jesús elabora un discurso en el que presenta de nuevo a sus discípulos las dificultades a las que se van a enfrentar.

Bien conocido es que Juan presenta un Jesús en el centro de una serie de antítesis: luz/tinieblas (1:4-9; 3:19-21; 8:12; 9:45; 11:9-10; 12:35-36.46), arriba/abajo (3:3.7.31; 8:23) cielo/tierra (3:12.31), carne/espíritu (1:12-13; 3:6; 6:63), verdad/falsedad (1:17; 8:44; 14:6; 15:26-27; 16:8-11), fe/incredulidad (1:11; 6:30; 7:5; 12:37-41; 14:17; 20:3-31), vida y muerte (1:4-5; 10:10; 11:25-26; 14:6; 20:3). El ministerio y la persona de Jesús representan, obviamente, el polo positivo en estas antítesis. Al mismo tiempo, una de las funciones retóricas de este recurso literario es invitar a los discípulos y las discípulas—y a los lectores y las lectoras—a dejar atrás las dimensiones negativas de este mundo y entrar a formar parte activa del Espíritu.
