Preaching Moment 336: Michael Brown on the Courage to Preach

Michael Brown offers advice to pastors on the courage to preach. “At some point you become incarnational. You give flesh to the word you are reading. You say to your people, here is what I think it means to me, here is how I hear it, here is what I am led to do about it. And that becomes really dangerous because they may not hear the same things in it. They may not feel led to do the same things about it, and therefore they may take issue with you.”

“There is a lot of courage required because you stand up alone, there is nothing to hide behind; ultimately, you are going to say things, if you are faithful, that not everyone is going to agree with.”
