Biography
Rodney Caruthers II, PhD (University of Michigan) is Assistant Professor of New Testament at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, TX. He specializes in Second Temple Judaism and Early Christianity. His research interests include ancient writing practices, papyrology, Greek and Roman backgrounds to Christianity, and the role of magic in antiquity. Rodney has published articles for De Gruyter, the Encyclopedia of the Bible and its Reception (EBR), the Frankel Institute Annual, and has a forthcoming article in Biblical Archaeology Review on views of inspiration during the Hellenistic period (fall 2023).
