Matt Gaventa is Pastor at Amherst Presbyterian Church in Amherst, Virginia and Chaplain at Sweet Briar College. He also co-hosts “Technicolor Jesus,” a podcast that ties movies and pop culture to the work of the church and the lectionary cycle.

Matt holds degrees from Georgetown University, the University of Iowa, and Princeton Theological Seminary. His work has been featured in The Christian Century, on the Day1 Sermon Broadcast, and in a variety of devotional and liturgical materials prepared by the Presbyterian Church (USA). 

Matt is the 2012 recipient of the David H.C. Read Preacher/Scholar Award given by Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, and selections from his preaching can be found at mattgaventa.com.
