Biography
Mark S. Smith is Helena Professor of Old Testament Literature and Exegesis at Princeton Theological Seminary and Skirball Professor Emeritus of Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at New York University. Smith is the author of over 130 articles, seventeen books and five co-authored books, including How Human is God? Seven Questions about God and Humanity in the Bible (2014); and The Genesis of Good and Evil: The Fall(out) and Original Sin in the Bible (2019). His current research includes a commentary on the book of Judges co-authored with Elizabeth Bloch-Smith; the first of this two-volume work appeared in the Hermeneia commentary series in November of 2021.
