La Rev. Leila M. Ortiz es pastora de la Iglesia Evangélica Luterana en América (ELCA) desde 2013 y obispa del Sínodo Metropolitano de Washington DC desde 2019. Se había desempeñado como asistente de su predecesor desde 2016.

Obtuvo su Maestría en Divinidad y realizó estudios de postgrado en el Seminario Teológico Luterano de Philadelphia.

La Rev. Leila M. Ortiz nació en Puerto Rico y se define a sí misma como una “lutercostal,” una identidad en la que la formación espiritual en la iglesia pentecostal se encuentra con la teología y la liturgia luterana.

The Rev. Leila M. Ortiz is a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) since 2013 and serves as the Bishop of the Metropolitan Washington DC Synod since 2019. She joined the synod staff in 2016 as Assistant to the Bishop.

She got her M.Div. and pursued post-graduate studies at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

The Rev. Leila M. Ortiz is from Puerto Rico and defines herself as a “Luthercostal,” an identity in which the spiritual formation in the Pentecostal church comes together with the Lutheran theology and liturgy.
