Pastor John D. Hogenson was the eighth senior pastor of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. He passed away on Jan. 4, 2017, following a 20-month battle with an inoperable brain tumor.

Born in 1958, in Owatonna, Minn., Pastor Hogenson held a Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary and was a graduate of Beeson Institute for Advanced Church Leadership. Pastor Hogenson committed his ministry to building the kingdom of God and making the world more like what Christ envisioned. In his 25 years in ministry, Pastor Hogenson served five congregations; holding a variety of spiritual and leadership positions including: solo pastor, director of pastoral care, senior pastor, executive pastor, and lead pastor.
