Biography
Eunyung Lim is Assistant Professor of Religion at Middlebury College. She holds both an M.Div. and a Th.D. from Harvard Divinity School. Her research and teaching explore portrayals of women, children, and other social minorities in the Bible and early Christian literature, with particular attention to their sociocultural implications in both ancient and modern contexts.
Her monograph, Entering God’s Kingdom (Not) Like a Little Child: Images of the Child in Matthew, 1 Corinthians, and Thomas (BZNW 243; Berlin/Boston: De Gruyter, 2021), examines how early Christ followers employed different images of the child to articulate ideals of human transformation for God’s kingdom, particularly in relation to social rank, intellect, and gender.
Dr. Lim’s research on the Gospel of Matthew has appeared in Catholic Biblical Quarterly and Currents in Theology and Mission. Forthcoming publications include an article on Gospel of Thomas logion 21 in the Journal of Biblical Literature, as well as a contribution to the Oxford Handbook of the Bible, Race, and Diaspora on interethnic conflict in 1 Corinthians. She is currently working on a new project that reads 1 Corinthians through women’s experiences of reproductive loss.
