Biography

An ordained elder of The United Methodist Church, Clifton Black is the Otto A. Piper Professor of Biblical Theology at Princeton Theological Seminary. His most recent books include the Abingdon New Testament Commentaries: Mark (Abingdon, 2011), Reading Scripture with the Saints (Cascade, 2014), and The Lord’s Prayer in Interpretation: Resources for the Use of Scripture in the Church (Westminster John Knox, 2018). The Eighth, Golden Anniversary Edition of his acclaimed textbook, Anatomy of the New Testament: A Guide to Its Structure and Meaning (with Robert Spivey and Moody Smith), was published in Spring 2019 by Fortress Press.
