Biography
Angela N. Parker is Associate Professor of New Testament & Womanist Thought at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Prior to joining the Garrett faculty, Parker served as Associate Professor of New Testament & Greek at Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology. In 2018, Parker earned second place in the Journal for Feminist Studies in Religion’s Elizabeth Schüssler Fiorenza New Scholar Award for an article on Galatians and race, In 2021, Parker published If God Still Breathes, Why Can’t I: Black Lives Matter and Biblical Authority (Eerdmans). Parker also co-edited with Mitzi Smith and Ericka Dunbar Hill Bitter the Chastening Rod: Africana Biblical Interpretation After Stony the Road We Trod in the Age of BLM, SAYHERNAME, and METOO in 2022. Her newest publication, Faith Un-Lynched: “Jesus-Faith” as Paul’s Both/And out of Christian Nationalism is forthcoming from Eerdmans in 2027. Ordained with the Missionary Baptist Association, Parker can be found on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, BlueSky, and Substack @BoozyBibleScholar.
