Biography

Dr. Terry Ann Smith is the Associate Dean of Certificate Studies/Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at New Brunswick Theological Seminary, New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Smith is responsible for developing and implementing program assessment and reporting. She also designs and delivers course instruction in online and hybrid formats. Course instruction includes Introduction to the Old Testament, Biblical Hebrew, and Hebrew Exegesis I, Biblical Research and Writing, and other electives in the Doctor of Ministry, Master of Divinity, and Certificate Programs. 

Her writings include various articles on Daniel, Rachel and Leah, Sarah and Ishmael, and the prophet Isaiah. She is involved as the co-author of a commentary on Ezra-Nehemiah and co-editor for God Help Us! Biblical Interrogations and Practical Application of Pastoral Care Concerns for Black Churches. She is currently working on a new book Echoes of Dissent: Resistance and Protest – MLK, Malcolm X, and the Biblical Daniel. Dr. Smith holds a Ph.D. and Master of Philosophy from Drew University in Madison, NJ, a Master of Divinity from New Brunswick Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Management and Master of Science in Information Systems from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL. She is an ordained minister and serves with her husband, Bishop Elijah L. Williams Jr., at Welcome Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.
