Biography

Dr. Matthew D. Kim is Professor of Preaching and Pastoral Leadership, Holder of the George W. Truett Endowed Chair in Preaching and Evangelism, and Director of the Ph.D. in Preaching Program at Baylor University’s George W. Truett Theological Seminary. 

Kim is the award-winning author and editor of more than a dozen books, including What’s God Saying Here?: How to Navigate Awkward, Troubling, and Bizarre Passages We Would Rather Skip, Becoming a Friendlier Church, Preaching to People in Pain, and We Follow Christ. He has been invited to give several endowed lectureships on preaching at various colleges, seminaries, and universities across North America, and speaks regularly at conferences and churches. 

He has been a guest on numerous podcasts including “The Holy Post,” “The Two Cities,” and “Church Pulse Weekly.” Kim is a past-president of the Evangelical Homiletics Society and a senior fellow of the Center for Pastor Theologians. He and his family are members of Highland Baptist Church in Waco, Texas.
