Biography

Frank M. Yamada is Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible at McCormick Theological Seminary. He also serves as the director of the Center for Asian American Ministries. He has published several essays and delivered many papers in the areas of postmodernism, postcolonialism, ethics of interpretation, violence in the Hebrew Bible, culturally-contextual hermeneutics, and Asian American biblical interpretation. He is a former co-chair of the Asian and Asian American Hermeneutics Group of the Society of Biblical Literature. He is also a minister of Word and Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church U. S. A. His recent book is entitled Configurations of Rape in the Hebrew Bible: A Literary Analysis of Three Rape Narratives (Peter Lang, 2008).
